I love thrift stores!

The other day my husband and I had a few min to kill so we decided to visit the local thrift store. I was impressed he voluntarily decided to come because he knows I love looking through EVERYTHING to make sure I don't miss out on anything good. Well, an hour, 2 games, 2 helmets, an exercise bike and $17.50 later we came home with some priceless gems! Check 'em out...

It's Raining babies!

I guess it's that time of year because it seems like ALL of my friends are having babies! Babies = baby showers = an excuse for me to make more things!
Here are a few of the latest things I've created.

Broomstick Stitch

Sometimes my husband teases me because I have an "old lady" hobby, and people often ask how I got into and learned how to crochet. Well.... in my old job I spent a great deal of time traveling on planes. There were only so many books I could read and movies I could watch on an 8 hour flight so I decided I wanted to learn something else. At the time I kept seeing pictures of the cutest crocheted hats that my friend Katie had made for her new baby. I wasn't having a baby but I decided that I wanted to learn how to crochet so I found a free pattern for a hat online, journeyed down to Michael's, bought a crochet hook and some yarn and searched for a tutorial on youtube to teach me the basics.
A few years and a bunch of hats, scarves, booties & headbands later I've had the itch to learn a new crochet stitch, so once again I set out to find something new to learn. This time it was the broomstick stitch and here's what I made!
